This project upgraded an open-rafter garage into a fully fire-rated, code-compliant space. Structural framing issues were corrected, and the garage was insulated and finished with 5/8″ fire-rated drywall throughout, including the demising wall between the garage and living space to meet insurance requirements. The garage door system was also improved by resolving a height mismatch, replacing the 7′ motor with an 8′ unit featuring modern WiFi functionality. The result is a safer, more efficient, and properly finished garage.
